SIPA and the Munk School

Students pay tuition at the institution where they are in residence.

• Year One — University of Toronto: Students pay tuition to the Munk School while studying in Toronto.

• Year Two — Columbia University: Students pay tuition and applicable fees to Columbia SIPA while studying in New York

Munk School MGA and MPP Tuition and Fees

Additional Fees and Health Insurance

During the SIPA year, students must enroll in Columbia University's health insurance plan or demonstrate that they have comparable coverage, in accordance with university requirements.

Columbia University also charges a one-time document fee and a semesterly Health and Related Services Fee during the first year at the partner institution.

SIPA Financial Aid

Dual degree students in the GPPN program receive a financial aid application in February for consideration ahead of their SIPA year.

Funding is extremely limited, with typically fewer than 10% of students receiving financial support.

Students planning to apply for U.S. federal financial aid should contact the SIPA Office of Financial Aid to initiate the process.

Students in the dual-degree program complete their first year at the Munk School, followed by their second year at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).

Both degrees are awarded only after students have successfully completed all degree requirements at both institutions.

Year One – Munk School

Students complete their first-year coursework at the Munk School.

Year Two – SIPA

Students complete their second-year coursework in SIPA's Master of Public Administration (MPA) or Master of International Affairs (MIA) program, fulfilling any remaining core and concentration requirements.

General Degree Requirements

Students must:

• Complete a minimum of 30 credits in residence at SIPA.
• Fulfill all applicable SIPA core requirements.
• Complete the requirements for their chosen concentration.
• Attain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Transfer Credit and Course Sharing

Approved first-year courses completed at the Munk School may satisfy specific SIPA core requirements, as outlined in the Munk School MGA–SIPA Core Course Equivalencies.
With approval from the relevant SIPA concentration office, students may apply one Munk School course toward their SIPA concentration requirements.
