About the Challenge

The SIPA Annual Global Policy Challenge, founded in 2014, stands as one of Columbia University's premier innovation competitions. Each year, student ventures addressing the world's most pressing policy challenges compete for $75,000 in seed funding while receiving expert mentorship and access to a dynamic ecosystem of practitioners—transforming bold ideas into tangible solutions.

Through the Challenge, SIPA students become innovators who harness entrepreneurship for the public good, developing scalable solutions to unmet societal needs.

Pathways to Action:

The Global Policy Challenge translates SIPA’s mission into action. It calls on students to design entrepreneurial solutions around four core themes that represent the pathways to action on today’s most critical issues: (1) Geopolitical Stability; (2) Democratic Resilience; (3) Climate and Sustainable Development; and (4) Inclusive Prosperity and Macroeconomic Stability.
