A Benchmarking Study of Several Jurisdictions to Assess the Challenges and Benefits of Green Building Practices

Green building practices are becoming ever more prominent globally as building developers, owners, and occupants become more aware of their benefits.  In order to advance this trend in the interest of achieving greater sustainability, many jurisdictions are beginning to allow or require certain green building practices.  The Mayor’s PlaNYC has outlined several initiatives that will result in new requirements for buildings in NYC.  The capstone group would conduct a benchmarking study of several jurisdictions in which new regulations or building projects have taken effect and assess the political, operational, regulatory, and fiscal challenges and benefits.
