Kosova, The Emerging Democracy, Open for Business and Tourism

National branding is essential for Kosova to redefine its image from a post-conflict society to a democratic, stable and attractive European destination and achieve sustainable economic growth. The country’s tourism sector holds great promise to open Kosova to international tourists and thereby redefine its image. However, its international visibility suffers from persistent misinformation, weak online presence, limited marketing efforts, and a lack of coordination among domestic institutions.

The Capstone report presents an analytical assessment of Kosova’s tourism strategy,  complemented by international case studies. The findings highlight the critical need for  stronger institutional reform, innovative digital infrastructure, and the adoption of  coordinated, sustainable development practices to support an effective national branding  strategy. Central to these recommendations is the urgent establishment of a dedicated  Ministry of Tourism to lead national branding efforts, coordinate policy implementation,  enhance digital infrastructure, and execute targeted global marketing campaigns.  Additionally, the report introduces an investment agreement/license template to facilitate  project development and proposes strategies for attracting long-term foreign direct  investment (FDI) while maximizing socioeconomic benefits for local communities. The implementation of this integrated approach will help Kosova build its image as an  emerging tourism destination and a safe, affordable place to invest and visit, ultimately  positioning Kosova as a stable and attractive European destination.
