Developing E-mobility Infrastructure in Existing Microgrid Projects Across Nigeria

Semester

Spring 2024

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) was created by the Electric Power Sector Reform Act in 2006 with the objective to facilitate the provision of affordable power supply for residential, commercial, industrial and social activities in the rural and peri-urban areas of the country. In 2018, the REA launched the Nigerian Electrification Project (NEP) in partnership with the World Bank and the African Development Bank to provide cost-effective power to 250,000 MSMEs and 1 million households through off-grid and mini-grid systems by 2023. The REA is interested in a comprehensive study on the technical and economic viability of e-mobility infrastructure development and growth through existing micro-grid projects in Nigeria’s rural and peri-urban areas. There is indeed a great opportunity to deepen the existing knowledge of this ecosystem while highlighting the opportunities in the nation’s renewable energy sector.
