Updates to SIPA’s Tuition Structure

Posted Jul 11 2025

Dear Students,

We are writing to inform you of updates to SIPA’s tuition structure, effective in the 2025–26 academic year. These changes apply to new and continuing MIA, MPA, and MPA-DP students. Full details are available on the SIPA website

Please note: There are no changes to the tuition structure for International Dual Degree programs, or for students in the EMPA, MPA-EPM, MPA-ESP, MPA-GL, or PhD programs.

These adjustments are designed to align with SIPA’s evolving curriculum and provide students with increased flexibility.

Key Changes:

1. Credit Cap

Beginning in 2025–26, students may take up to 16.5 credits per semester at the standard tuition rate. The MIA, MPA, and MPA-DP programs require 54 credits to graduate, averaging 13.5 credits per semester over four terms. Students who wish to exceed the 16.5-credit cap may do so by paying a per-credit fee for additional coursework.

2. New Part-Time Option

For the first time, SIPA will offer a part-time tuition rate for students taking seven or fewer credits in a given semester. Students pursuing this option must still complete the equivalent of four full-time residential units to be eligible for graduation. This can now include a combination of two half-time units and three full-time units.

Important Note for Scholarship Students: Students receiving SIPA scholarships must remain enrolled full-time and complete their degree within two years to retain full funding eligibility.

If you have questions about how these changes may affect your academic planning, we strongly encourage you to speak with your academic adviser before fall registration opens in August.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall.
