Private Sector Support for the Sustainable Development Goals Through Local Networks

Together with local networks in more than 70 countries, the UN Global Compact is at the forefront of moving businesses to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. The project focused on (1) assess the existing awareness and knowledge of signatories on the SDGs, and (2) identify opportunities for LNs to promote awareness and expand the implementation of the SDGs within local contexts. Through a qualitative approach, in-person interviews were conducted with business signatories and other key stakeholders in four countries including China, Colombia, Czech Republic, and Kenya.  Following the SIPA team analysis, the main findings and recommendations focused on the necessity to increase knowledge sharing among business and improve communication mechanisms of the SDG agenda.
