Learning from the Women's Empowerment Index: Case Studies on the Income and Time Domains

The Hunger Project (THP) is an NGO that aims to eradicate hunger and poverty by placing women-centered strategies at the core of their work. A SIPA Workshop Team was asked to analyze THP’s Women’s Empowerment Index (WEI) to determine why some communities are performing better than others. The Team traveled to Burkina Faso and Ghana to conduct fieldwork and produced two case studies on the time and income indicators of the Index, with specific recommendations on how to improve the scores through the women’s empowerment programming.
