This project examines the long-term challenges facing the United States energy system and proposes a strategic framework for transitioning toward a more sustainable, secure, and economically resilient energy future. The report evaluates the structural weaknesses of the current U.S. energy landscape, including heavy reliance on fossil fuels, increasing greenhouse gas emissions, vulnerability to international energy markets, and aging infrastructure. It also assesses the economic and environmental consequences of maintaining the status quo, highlighting the role of energy consumption in driving climate change and national security concerns. The analysis situates U.S. energy policy within a broader global context, emphasizing the need for coordinated federal action to address rising energy demand while reducing environmental impacts.
To address these challenges, the report proposes a comprehensive implementation strategy focused on diversification of the energy portfolio, increased energy efficiency, and expanded investment in renewable technologies. The proposed policy framework outlines institutional reforms and programmatic initiatives designed to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies while maintaining economic competitiveness. Key elements include incentives for renewable energy adoption, regulatory mechanisms to encourage energy efficiency, and strengthened collaboration between federal agencies, private sector stakeholders, and state governments. The report also presents a first-year implementation roadmap including organizational structures, budget estimates, and performance metrics to guide federal action. By integrating policy innovation, technological development, and institutional coordination, the project demonstrates how strategic planning can support a gradual transition toward a more sustainable and resilient U.S. energy system.
