Upcoming External Funding Deadlines

The SIPA Financial Aid Office maintains a database of external funding opportunities, and we wanted to alert students to some with upcoming application deadlines. For more external scholarship awards, go to our External Fellowships and Funding Sources page. Please be aware that some organizations may have changed policies for this upcoming year. We check regularly to keep our listing up to date, but would appreciate feedback if you come across an outdated posting.

• Heinrich Böll Foundation
  
  Requirements: The scholarship department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to graduates, and doctoral students from outside Germany. International applicants have to prove their proficiency in German. Good or very good knowledge of the German language is required (at least B2 Level or DSH2). Deadline: March 1 and September 1, 2022
• Bush Fellowship
  
  Requirements: A resident who is at least 24 years old, lives in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or one of the 23 Native nations that share the same geography, for one continuous year immediately prior to the application deadline. Deadline: Applications will be open September 1 through September 29
• Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Program
  
  Requirements:  Must be a U.S. citizen and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.  Seek admission to a two-year, full-time, on-campus, master’s degree program at a U.S.-based graduate institution to begin in the Fall of 2023 in an academic field relevant to the work of the Foreign Service (public policy, international affairs, public administration, business, economics, political science, management science, organizational development/leadership, sociology, or regional studies). Deadline: September 29, 2022
• Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program
  
  Requirements: The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State in which they can help formulate, represent, and implement U.S. foreign policy. The Rangel Program selects outstanding Rangel Fellows annually in a highly competitive nationwide process and supports them through two years of graduate study, internships, mentoring, and professional development activities. Deadline: September 22, 2022
• Payne Graduate Fellowship
  
  Requirements: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and seeking admission to enter graduate school in the Fall of 2023 for a two-year program at a U.S. university. They can be in the senior year of their undergraduate studies, graduating by June 2023, or they can be college graduates.  Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.   Requirements: International House offers a welcoming community to students, scholars and young professionals coming from around the globe to study or train in NYC.  Residents attend or work at leading​ ​universities,​ ​businesses,​ ​and​ ​cultural,​ ​non-profit​, and government​ ​institutions across the city.
