Student Leader Spotlight: Janvi Manek
With a blend of legal expertise and a deep interest in global finance, Janvi Manek (she/her) has carved out a niche in the complex world of dispute resolution and white-collar crime. As a Senior Attorney at one of India's Tier 1 Law Firms, she played a pivotal role in defending multinational corporations against high-stakes investigations involving financial fraud, corruption, money laundering and regulatory violations. Now at Columbia Law School’s Centre for Public Research and Leadership, she’s leveraging her analytical skills to help the Rhode Island Department of Education enhance their early childhood education monitoring systems.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Janvi is passionate about combating global financial crimes through innovative technology and policy solutions. She’s also a skilled researcher, fluent in multiple languages, and brings a creative flair to her work as a trained dancer and singer.
Advice to SIPA students: My advice to SIPA Students is to optimise on all resources available at SIPA and on campus and GET INVOLVED! Interact closely with professors, seek support from your TA's and readers, reach out to the OSA, make friends with your fellow students and collaborate with them, join student clubs and SIPA centres, even centres and initiatives outside of SIPA, on campus! More opportunities present themselves when you are just involved, than when you are not. That said, it can sometimes feel daunting and overwhelming, and when it does, remember that it is okay to take a pause and hold still till you recall your "why" and gather your motivation!
