Gaby Gerecht

Gaby Gerecht is a MIA student concentrating in International Security Policy and dual specializing in Technology, Media and Communications and Leadership, Innovation, and Design. Gaby is originally from Washington, DCbut grew up all over the place as a third culture kid. Gaby spent her time last summer interning at US Indo-Pacific Command in Honolulu, Hawaii, which she highly recommends all ISP eligible students apply to! At INDOPACOM, she wrote a research report on civilian protection and harm during the siege of Malawi, Philippines for their Center For Excellence in Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Aid. Before SIPA, Gaby worked at DAI Global on USAID governance and stability projects in South Asia and before that, she lived in Beirut, Lebanon. Gaby received her BA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada (which undoubtedly has the best bagels in the world, sorry NYC!). Fun fact: At six years old, Gaby beat Katie Ledecky in a swim race.

Gaby’s advice to SIPA students: "Invest your time in a student group! Student groups are a really fantastic way to get to know professors, build professional networks and learn how to put on events. Especially if there’s a career field you may be interested in but you’re not sure where to start, a student group working in that field is the best way."
