Peer Adviser Spotlight: Alice Lassman MPA ’24

Alice is an MPA candidate specializing in decolonizing development. She is currently working at the OECD at the intersection of design with economic development, and in a former life tried to replace GDP with a degrowth alternative (and worked at McKinsey, however not at the same time).

Alice spent most of her orientation week jet-lagged, barefoot, and avoiding NY food prices. She applied to be a peer advisor to provide counsel in a difficult transition, especially for those navigating a rough patch.

Alice’s advice to SIPA students: 

“SIPA should instill you with humility and curiosity — don’t be fooled by the flashy names or titles, your quest here is to realize that public service is about giving power to those who need it, not yourself.

These two years are a total privilege — and one you've fought so hard for. Use them to truly explore — who you want to be as a person, a friend, a colleague.”
