A Message on Today's Supreme Court Decision on Affirmative Action

Posted Jun 29 2023

Dear SIPA Community,

Today, the United States Supreme Court rendered its decision on Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. University of North Carolina and Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard University, which concerns affirmative action in higher education. This decision could potentially reshape how institutions of higher education, including graduate schools like SIPA, are able to recruit the most exceptional, diverse, and geographically representative student bodies. As a truly global School, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring a rich diversity of backgrounds and perspectives among students, and consistent with the law, we will do everything in our power to maintain our values, our scholarship, and our community. We are monitoring the implications of this decision and will keep you all notified of any major changes to the admissions process going forward. I invite you to read the university’s statement here.

Sincerely,

Keren Yarhi-Milo
