The foundation offers financing through loans to obtain a Master's degree from a reputable University, local or abroad, preferable in matters related to economic and productive activity. These grants finance studies in areas such as business administration, finance, economics, law, international trade, political science, engineering, architecture, international relations, and similar fields. The established limits are $20,000 for studies of one year and $40,000 for studies of two years. To date, the average financing has been $13,000 per year. The Heinrich Böll Foundation is closely affiliated with the German Green Party and maintains a worldwide network with 30 international offices. The Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1200 students of all subjects and nationalities. Applicants are expected to have academic excellence, be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the Foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self-determination and justice.
