The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, we invest in the graduate education of 30 New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture or their academic field. We currently have a $5,000 scholarship, which we plan to award in 2021 to a qualified college graduate who has accepted admission to, or is currently enrolled in, a graduate program at American University, Tufts University, or Columbia University that emphasizes preparing graduate students for a career in public service. The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes – German Academic Scholarship Foundation – is funded primarily by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and supports around 12,000 students and 1,200 doctoral candidates, with approximately 2,600 new students and 300 doctoral candidates admitted each year. Truman Scholarship Foundation - the federal memorial to our thirty-third President - awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.
