Driving Product-Level Sustainability Data in Dell's Supply Chain

Semester

Spring 2024

A growing number of customers and regulatory bodies are requiring product-level environmental sustainability information from companies. While a significant portion of Dell's environmental footprint, especially carbon emissions, come from the supply chain, component or commodity-level data is often unavailable, making it difficult for accurate accounting of Scope 3 emissions, identifying emissions hotspots and mitigating the impacts. Dell is interested in the emerging regulations and policies that call for increasing transparency on materials flows and their carbon footprints across the supply chain. The insights generated from this project would help Dell formulate roadmaps to collaborate with its suppliers and partners and develop robust product sustainability information, and help Dell stay ahead of regulatory requirements and competitors.
