Spring 2023

The SIPA Capstone team collaborated closely with Ernst & Young (EY) and was assigned the task of comprehending innovative and advanced practices from industry with regards to the implementation of a Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), as well as exploring how companies were modifying their strategies during the implementation process. EY's purpose is to build a better working world through quality services that promote trust and confidence in global economies and capital markets. EY provides four integrated service lines, deep sector knowledge, and multidisciplinary teams to help clients capitalize on new opportunities and achieve responsible growth while investing in innovation and promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The SIPA Capstone team analyzed the significance of ZTA in the current complex digital landscape, examined the experiences of various organizations that have implemented ZTA and evaluated its impact on their cyber programs and organizational consequences. The team provided a detailed analysis of key vendors in the ZTA space and evaluated their offerings using a rating and matrix system. Additionally, the team emphasized the significance of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and micro-segmentation technologies in achieving a successful ZTA implementation. The purpose of this project was to offer unique insights that can guide EY in enhancing their clients' cybersecurity posture and navigating the challenges of the digital world. By exploring the organizational adoption of ZTA, assessing key vendors and technologies, the team aimed to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that could strengthen their cybersecurity posture.
