Sustainable Development

Personal Details

Sujoy Bhattacharyya is a fourth year Ph.D. student in Sustainable Development. He hopes to research how institutions affect social, economic, and environmental outcomes in developing countries and identify policies that are inclusive and effective. A few current interests in this vein include collective resource management for smallholder farmers, the heterogeneous causes and impacts of air pollution, and mechanisms for making politicians and bureaucrats responsive to the needs of marginalized communities. Throughout his work, he enjoys combining insights from fieldwork and diverse datasets.

Sujoy holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard University and a BA in Physics and Economics from Oberlin College. He spent several years working on impact evaluations and state capacity building in India as a Research Fellow at Evidence for Policy Design. Sujoy loves cooking (and eating) food from around the world, exploring new places, and reading.
