Program: MIA
Concentration: International Security & Diplomacy
Hometown: Lenting, Bavaria, Germany
Sabrina Kolb is a first-year international student at Columbia University, pursuing a Master of International Affairs (MIA) at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Concentrating in International Security and Diplomacy with an interest in Social Development and International Collaboration, she is using her time at SIPA to transition from the private sector into public and international service.
Originally from Southern Germany, Sabrina holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business. Before attending Columbia, she worked as a Project Manager at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka), where she managed government-funded projects, conducted advocacy, and supported German and Sri Lankan companies in strengthening bilateral trade and institutional cooperation. During her studies, she explored a range of departments including Business Development, Employer Branding, and Trade.
Her international experiences — studying in Finland, interning in Slovenia and Denmark, and working in Sri Lanka — have shaped her cross-cultural fluency and global outlook. Witnessing development challenges in the Global South firsthand has strengthened her commitment to pursue a career with the UN, EU, development organizations, or the Foreign Service, focusing on community development and international cooperation.
In her free time, Sabrina enjoys traveling and exploring nature. She is happy to connect with prospective students, answer questions, and share insights about her experience at SIPA.
