Personal Details

Ron Leven started his career in 1980 as an International Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York focusing on assessing sovereign risk in emerging market economies. He then moved into the private sector taking a job as a futures market analyst at Shearson Lehman Brothers shifting focus to providing advice on managing foreign exchange market exposure. In 1991 Mr Leven went to JP Morgan to create a foreign exchange research team in New York and in 1997 moved to Singapore to become Head of Asian Local Markets Research. He then moved to Tokyo in 2000 to take on the same responsibilities for Lehman Brothers. In 2003, Mr Leven returned to New York to take over management of a $150 million hedge fund at Pinnacle Asset Management trading currencies and fixed income futures. In 2007 Mr Leven returned to banking taking a position as Head of Currency Derivative Research at Morgan Stanley. He is currently working at Thomson Reuters as Head of Foreign Exchange and Economic content on Eikon; a screen-based service for market professionals. Mr Leven has regularly published his research in bank publications as well as in outside journals like Euromoney and Institutional Investor and currently publishes a monthly newsletter The FX Market Voice. Mr Leven holds a doctorate in economics from Rice University and earned his undergraduate degree at Washington University in St Louis. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia University School of International Affairs and has also been an adjunct at New York University Stern School of Business.
