Rob Johnson

Rob Johnson is a lecturer of International and Public Affairs, currently serving as a faculty advisor for the Smallholder Data Initiative Capstone Project.

Rob has nearly a decade of experience driving market-based solutions and building social businesses in the developing world. An engineer by training, he started his career in business development and project management for a large steel fabrication company, securing and managing multi-million dollar contracts for stadiums, hospitals, skyscrapers and bridges throughout the US. Rob moved to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake with the desire to apply social business and market-driven solutions to help rebuild the country. He spent three years at TechnoServe, leading assessments and strategy development in multiple value chains and building and managing new programs. In 2014, he left TechnoServe to launch the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership’s (CGEP) supply chain business in Haiti, which connects thousands of famers to local and international buyers. After five years in Haiti, Rob moved to New York in 2016 to oversee CGEP’s global portfolio of supply chain businesses and lead CGEP’s expansion to Africa and Asia.

Rob holds an MBA (Honors) and a Master of Science in Sustainable Development (Honors) from HEC Paris and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is fluent in French and Haitian Creole.
