Personal Details

Meg Heenehan is the Executive Director of the Office of Career Services (OCS) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of International and Public Affairs. She joined OCS as Assistant Director of Career Education in 1997, and was promoted to Director in 1998. Prior to SIPA, Meg worked at Barnard College, where she held the positions of Career Counselor, Internship Coordinator, and Student Employment Officer from 1990-1997.



At SIPA, Meg oversees OCS and specifically works with the Student Relations team, where she provides career advisement to students and alumni. Within that role, Meg teaches the Professional Development course, conducts workshops on a variety of topics related to career development, and meets individually with students and alumni. She is also the OCS liaison to the Economic and Political Development (EPD) concentration and the Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) program.



Meg also maintains a private practice as a career coach and has worked with hundreds of individuals to help them find successful and satisfying careers. She has written two books on the topic of careers entitled Job Notes: Networking (Princeton Review, 1997) and Job Smart (Princeton Review, 1997).



Meg holds a Master of Education in Counseling from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice from University of Delaware. When not at work, Meg can be found at the beach, enjoying family and friends.
