Personal Details

Louise Moretto is a Director of Sustainable Investments at Deutsche Asset Management.  She has over 25 years of experience in banking, international development, and impact investing in over 20 countries, promoting financial inclusion and entrepreneurship and clean energy in low-income communities. She is an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of International Public Affairs, has written numerous publications on development finance, and prior to rejoining Deutsche she worked as financial inclusion and impact investing consultant on: strategies for building impact investing capabilities at large financial institutions, developing new impact investment funds, advocating for a market systems approach to financial inclusion, and promoting financial services for international refugees. Louise was the Managing Director of Investments at Grassroots Capital Management, an impact investment firm specialized in global microfinance, small-medium enterprise, affordable housing and sustainable agriculture investments. She was also a Senior Director  and the head of the Capital Markets Group at Women’s World Banking, a global microfinance network, where she expanded partners’ capital access from local bank and international impact investors and developed several capacity building programs on the capital markets and financial risk management for MFIs globally.

Before her career shift into financial inclusion and impact investments, Louise was a banker at JP Morgan Chase and National Westminster Bank.  She served for several years as a board member for Vitas Holding, a holding company operating financial institutions in the Middle East serving micro and small enterprises and for Project Zawadi, a non-profit providing educational opportunities to children in rural communities of Tanzania.  Louise has a Masters in Latin American Studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.  She is proficient in Spanish and French.
