Jan Boswinkel Lopez

Jan is a first-year PhD student in Sustainable Development. His academic interests lie at the intersection of spatial, development, and environmental economics. Specifically, he is interested in exploring how developing nations can leverage trade and industrial policy to accelerate economic growth, and how spatial dynamics interact with environmental policies. 

Jan holds an MSc in Environmental Economics from the LSE and previously worked as a pre-doctoral researcher at LMU Munich, where he applied LLMs and machine learning to build historical datasets for trade research. In his free time, Jan enjoys literature, football, and surfing.
