Personal Details
Christopher W. Collins has taught English for International and Public Affairs at SIPA since 2017, developing academic writing skills for international students in MIA and MPA programs. He also holds the position of Associate Director for
Curriculum at Columbia's American Language Program, where he has taught since 2013.
Christopher is a frequent presenter at academic conferences across the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, including TESOL, AAAL, and IATEFL. His research interests include vocabulary acquisition, second-language reading
skills, second-language writing skills, and the interconnected relationship between these three competencies. He is also interested in the role of artificial intelligence in curriculum development, exploring how technology can enhance language instruction. In addition to conference work, Christopher has led teacher training internationally, including seminars at universities in Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, and Mexico.
He holds an Ed.M. in Applied Linguistics (Second Language Acquisition) from Teachers College, Columbia University and an M.A. in TESOL (Curriculum Development) from The New School.
