Anushka Das '28 is a first-year Master of International Affairs candidate at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), concentrating in International Security and Diplomacy with a regional focus on South Asia. She works as a graduate research assistant for Professor Rumela Sen on rebel governance.

Her research focuses on separatist movements and insurgencies in South Asia, including how the framing of these conflicts shapes intervention strategies. She is interested in counterterrorism and mediation, and hopes to build a career in mediation support.

Before SIPA, Anushka was a Programs & Operations Associate at the South Asian American Policy and Research Institute (SAAPRI), where she also co-authored two research reports, one on increasing language access at Chicago polling places, and one analyzing South Asian voter data in Chicago to study the gaps between registration and turnout. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a dual degree in Psychology and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE). She is also a certified interviewer for the 1947 Partition Archive, recording oral histories from people who lived through the Partition of India.

Anushka grew up partly in New Delhi and partly in Columbus, Ohio, and is a native Hindi speaker. She looks forward to talking with you about the application process, academics, and life in New York, especially if you're interested in research or a regional focus.
