Personal Details

Anny Vu is visiting from the U.S. State Department as the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Foreign Service Fellow for 2020-2021.  She was last a Special Assistant to the President and National Security Council (NSC) Senior Director for International Organizations.  Prior to that, she served as the NSC Deputy Senior Director for African Affairs and NSC Director for the United Nations (UN) and Multilateral Affairs.  Anny previously served as a Political Advisor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN), where she focused on Asia and Latin America issues taken up by the UN Security Council.  Prior to USUN, she worked as a Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China covering social stability, cybersecurity, and maritime issues.  Anny has served as a Staff Assistant in the State Department Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, a Watch Officer in the Secretary of State’s Operations Center, and as a Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France.  She has also worked as a Foreign Affairs Officer in the State Department Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs on Colombia and Haiti issues. Anny is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).  She speaks Mandarin, Vietnamese, French, and Indonesian.
