Alejandro Cuadrado is Managing Director and Head for Global FX and Latin America Strategy for BBVA, based in New York. Mr. Cuadrado leads the firm’s FX views including G10 and LatAm, and is responsible for leveraging BBVA’s LatAm platforms, expertise and global presence, generate market views, scenarios and trade ideas.

Often quoted and appearing in media, Mr. Cuadrado’s team has received the Reuters-Refinitiv Starmine Award for the Best LatAm FX Forecasters for four of the last five years. Bloomberg has also ranked BBVA in the Top 3 LatAm FX Forecasters since 2016. Other awards include Best Global FX Forecasters, FX Bank and LatAm House by Global Finance or Top FX Forecasters by FX Week.

Before joining BBVA, Mr. Cuadrado was the Chief Economist and Strategist for Latin America at Societe Generale, where he developed the firm’s LatAm research coverage and was ranked the Top Mexico Forecaster by Bloomberg Markets Magazine. Mr. Cuadrado also served as a Senior Economist and Fixed Income Strategist for Merrill Lynch/Bank of America for over five years, and with the LatAm Sovereign Ratings Group at Standard & Poor’s. Additionally, he has consulted to the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).

A Spaniard, Mr Cuadrado has a Bachelors degree in economics from Carlos III University in Madrid and a Masters degree (MIA) from SIPA.
