Spring 2023

Renova Foundation (Fundacao Renova) is a multistakeholder entity that was established to implement the remediation of damages from the collapse of a dam related to mining operations in Minas Gerais.  The focus of the project was to review several aspects of the remediation process from a "business and human rights" perspective, including the resettlement of affected communities and the building of related social infrastructure such as water/sanitation and housing.  The workshop team traveled to Brazil over SIPA's spring break in order to visit the resettlement site and interview a wide range of key informants.
