Can I Get a WiEE?? Energy and Environment Women Get-Togethers

Being in my last semester at SIPA, I’m already starting to feel nostalgic about my time here. The community has been a standout factor for me and the people are what I will miss most. SIPA helps create structured avenues for students to find their people - from the week-long orientation prior to the start of your first semester to the programming offered through your concentration and specialization. In addition to these opportunities, one of the most memorable ways I have gotten to intimately know my cohort is through informal Women in Energy and Environment (WiEE) gatherings.

What started as a small group of women in our concentration wanting to spend more time together, turned into a 50-person group chat and monthly scheduled bonding sessions (we love a recurring calendar invite). The WiEE space has been a nice change from the usual structure of women's networking and panel events (though still important). This fun and casual space has already organically grown from solely Energy and Environment concentrators to any female-identifying individuals interested in these sectors.

Once you are in the full swing of grad school, it is easy to get swept up in the speed of NYC, the course load, and planning your next steps. This space is a great way for me to remind myself that I need to (and can find the time to) take breaks, especially with a group as diverse and brilliant as this. From wine nights to white elephant exchanges to fondue nights, I am already excited to see what event we plan for next month.
