External Funding - Upcoming Deadlines through August 15

The SIPA Office of Financial Aid maintains a database of external funding opportunities, and we wanted to alert students to some with upcoming application deadlines. For more external scholarship awards, go to our External Fellowships and Funding Sources page. Please be aware that some organizations may have changed policies for this upcoming year. We check regularly to keep our listing up to date, but would appreciate feedback if you come across an outdated posting.

American Foundation of Savoy

Requirements: Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students and have a major in the Humanities & Fine Arts or International Studies. The scholarships are available to citizens and permanent residents of the United States. Please see the scholarship guidelines for additional information.

Deadline: May 15, 2022 American Indian College

Fund Full Circle Scholarship

Requirements: U.S. citizen or Canadian eligible to attend college in the U.S. under the Jay Treaty. Registered as a member of a federal or state recognized tribe, or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled tribal member. (Alaska Natives may use Native Corporation membership)

Deadline: May 31, 2022

Association for Queer Anthropology

Requirements: The Kenneth W. Payne Student Prize is presented each year by the Association for Queer Anthropology (AQA) to a graduate or undergraduate student in acknowledgement of outstanding anthropological work on 1) a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender topic, or 2) a critical interrogation of sexualities and genders more broadly defined. Papers are judged according to the following criteria: use of relevant L/G/B/T/Q and/or feminist anthropological theory and literature, potential for contribution to and advancement of queer studies and our understanding of sexualities worldwide, attention to difference (gender, class, race, ethnicity, nation), originality, organization and coherence, and timeliness.

CIRI Foundation

Requirements: The major goal of the Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) Foundation is encourage the education and career development of Alaska Natives through postsecondary scholarships and grants, research and other educational projects. Applicants must be, or be descended from, original enrollees of the Cook Inlet Region.

Deadline: June 1, 2022

Hungarian American Coalition

Requirements: Must be a citizen of Hungary, or member of an ethnic Hungarian community in Slovakia, Romania, Voivodina, Serbia or Ukraine.

Houtan Scholarship Foundation

Requirements: The Houtan Foundation offers scholarship to students from all origins – Iranian and non-Iranian – who have high academic performance and proven interest in promoting Iran’s great culture, heritage, language and civilization.

Deadline: June 1, 2022

Korean American Scholarship Foundation

Requirements: Scholarships available to Korean-American and Korean students enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in the United States. Selection based on financial need, academic achievement, school activities, and community services. Each applicant must submit an application to the respective KASF region.

Deadline: June 30, 2022

Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Graduate Scholarship

Requirements: Scholarships available for merit and need. Must be a full-time student, be currently enrolled in an accredited degree-granting institution, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate community service and involvement.

Deadline: August 15, 2022

Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI)

Requirements: Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) for Master and Doctoral Programs is funded by the Indonesian government through the use of the National Trust for Education Development (DPPN) and is managed by LPDP to finance higher education in master or doctoral program in higher education in Indonesian or overseas institutions.
