External Funding - Upcoming Deadlines

The SIPA Financial Aid Office maintains a database of external funding opportunities, and we wanted to alert students to some with upcoming application deadlines. For more external scholarship awards, go to our External Fellowships and Funding Sources page. Please be aware that some organizations may have changed policies for this upcoming year. We check regularly to keep our listing up to date, but would appreciate feedback if you come across an outdated posting.

  • Air & Waste Management Association Scholarship

    Requirements: Each year, the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) recognizes outstanding students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management / policy / law, and sustainability with respect to air quality and waste management.

    Deadline: January 12, 2022
  • Margaret McNamara Education Grant

    Requirements: Already be enrolled as a full time student, with relevant student visa in national passport, and plan to continue studying full time in the following academic year; not hold US citizenship or permanent residency (green card) or Canadian citizenship or Canadian landed immigrant status.

    Deadline: January 15, 2022
  • Point Foundation Scholarship

    Requirements: Must be enrolled or intending to enroll full time at an accredited college or university based in the United States in the fall of 2022. Must be “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.

    Deadline: January 18, 2022
  • Army Women's Foundation Legacy Scholarship

    Requirements: The Army Women’s Foundation (AWF) recognizes the importance of education and the role it plays in personal, professional, and economic fulfillment. The Army Women’s Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program provides grants to women soldiers, past and present, and their lineal descendants to help them attain their educational goals. Scholarships are based on merit, academic potential, personal essay, community service, letters of recommendation, and financial need.

  • Boren Fellowship

    Requirements: Fund research and language study proposals by U.S. graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests.

    Deadline: January 26, 2022
  • Straus Historical Society

    Requirements: We are pleased to announce that the Straus Historical Society will again be awarding a $5,000 scholarship to one or more qualified students in 2022We have specified Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs as one of only three schools that we have selected for applications for this school year.

    Deadline: January 31, 2022
  • Prospect Burma Scholarship

    Requirements: Be originally from Myanmar; priority will be given to students who are currently resident in and applying from Myanmar.  Be in the process of enrolling or have acceptance for, and / or enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree / a Master’s degree / a Ph.D at an accredited college or university, in any country but especially those in South East Asia and Hong Kong. Prospect Burma will ask for a copy of the acceptance letter from the University only for shortlisted candidates.
