Addressing Youth Homelessness in Nicaragua and Attaining Sustainability Through Social Enterprise

Covenant House International, an organization that shelters abandoned, trafficked, and homeless youth in the United States, Canada, and Latin America partnered with a SIPA team to analyze Casa Alianza Nicaragua’s current income generating initiatives, which included 1) The Metallurgy School, 2) Cuchara Nica Food Ventures and 3) Training and Advisory Services. The team was specifically tasked with delivering recommendations to assist Casa Alianza Nicaragua in scaling its initiatives, or adopting alternative models, to generate enough income to achieve sustainability, without losing sight of the primary beneficiaries and their needs.
