The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. The Zeta Phi Beta sorority's National Education Foundation offers a number of scholarships and fellowships to both members and non-members. Eligibility criteria and award amounts vary, and some are available to international students.
The Horace Smith Fund was established in 1989 to help students finance their education and is only available to graduates of Hamden County, MA secondary schools. Fellowship applicants must be residents of Hampden County, MA or qualified former residents. The Walter S. Barr Fellowship is for students pursuing a specific post-graduate degree. If that degree program requires more than one year of full time study, the award can be renewed for as many as two additional years, if warranted. Consideration will be given to both the merit and financial need of the applicant.
The United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Programs administer over 70 scholarship programs with one general application. The scholarship application generally opens in January and is due in March. In 1979, when a legacy from Swiss businessman Andrew Pellegrini provided the first funds for the former Pellegrini scholarship, the Swiss Benevolent Society of New York started to award scholarships and grants for education above the high school level. ELIGIBILITY Roothbert Fund scholarships are open to all in the United States regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background. While the Fund does not emphasize any particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. The Sons of Italy Foundation offers the National Leadership Grant Scholarships to outstanding men and women of Italian descent. These are merit based awards which range from $4,000 to $25,000 for one year. Check website for scholarship requirements. General Eligibility (additional requirements might apply to specific scholarships): U.S. citizens of Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian-American grandparent) Enrolled in a four year undergraduate program or a graduate program at an accredited academic institution for the Fall 2019 term.
