Dr. Scott W. Harold is a political scientist and Associate Director of the RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy. In addition to his work at the RAND, Dr. Harold is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Security Studies at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, where he has taught since 2006. Prior to joining RAND in August 2008, Dr. Harold worked at the Brookings Institution from 2006-2008. His doctorate is in Political Science from Columbia University, where he is also currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of International Affairs, teaching courses on security in East Asia and Chinese Politics. He was a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations from 2012-2017. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
