Personal Details
J. Benson Durham is head of global policy and asset allocation at Piper Sandler and an adjunct professor at Columbia University. His previous experience spans central banking, Wall Street, and academia. He was on the official staff of the Federal Reserve Board as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a senior advisor at the IMF. He has also held positions as a quantitative analyst and a portfolio manager at firms such as TIAA-CREF, Capital Group, Brevan Howard, and BlackRock, and was an adjunct professor of economics at Georgetown University and New York University. His research on asset pricing, global monetary policy, and political economy has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Portfolio Management, Financial Analysts Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and International Organization. He earned his BA and PhD in political science from the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia University, respectively, and his MSc in mathematical finance from Oxford University, Balliol College.
