This project is proposed by the Financing for Sustainable Development Office (FSDO) in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in the UN Secretariat. FSDO’s mandates and activities operate under the broader framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Based on good practices highlighted in “Managing Infrastructure Assets for Sustainable Development: A Handbook for Local and National Governments” (published by UNDESA), this Capstone research, through the lenses of selected countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, will seek to understand the needs of local asset managers to recommend adapted practices to complete the life cycle of their sub-national assets. From the planning and acquisition of the asset to its use, maintenance and disposal, the Capstone team will highlight good practices to incorporate resources needed for the lifecycle management of sub-national assets designed to strengthen capacity of sub-national governments and municipalities deploying sustainable provisions of dependable services.
