Pieter Jan Kuijper was lecturer in the Law of International Organizations at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands) 1972 – 1979. He obtained his Ph. D. from the University of Amsterdam in 1978. He has been with the Legal Service of the European Commission since 1979 with two interruptions, as Professor of International Law in the University of Amsterdam (1984 – 1987) and as head of the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO (1999 – 2002). He is now the Director for External Relations in the Legal Service and Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Amsterdam. He is author of a book and of numerous articles in law reviews about international law, WTO law and Community law and the interaction between them.
