Minister Hyun Chong Kim is Minister of Trade for the Republic of South Korea.Prior to assuming his current position as Minister for Trade on July 29, 2004, Hyun Chong Kim had served as the Deputy Minister for Trade from May 2003. Mr. Kim also worked in Legal Division of World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 1999, following his service as General Counsel for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) since May 1995. Mr. Kim also has vast experience in the private sector, having taught trade law as Professor at Hong-ik University in Seoul, Korea and worked in several law firms in Korea and the U.S. from 1985 to 1995. Mr. Kim received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in New York, USA in 1985 and a M.A. and a B.A.in Political Science from Columbia University in 1982.
