Kyle Bagwell

Kelvin J. Lancaster Professor of Economic Theory and Professor of Economics and Finance

Kyle Bagwell is Kelvin J. Lancaster Professor of Theory in the Department of Economics and Professor of Finance and Economics in the School of Business at Columbia University. He received his B.S. summa cum laude in Economics from Southern Methodist University in 1983 and his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1986. He has taught at Columbia since 1996. Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia, he taught at Northwestern University.

Professor Bagwell's research interests are industrial organization, international trade, and game theory. He has received grants from the National Science Foundation and is the author of numerous publications including articles on cartels in theory and practice. His book The Economics of the World Trading System, coauthored with Robert Staiger, has been highly praised. From 1996 to 2002, Professor Bagwell served as an editor at the Rand Journal of Economics. He is also a Founding Editor of the B.E. Journals of Economic Analysis and Policy.
