About Us
History
The UNSPWG functions as a link between SIPA and the UN, and aims to assist the United Nations Studies Program (UNSP). The UNSPWG's goal is to provide opportunities for students to further their knowledge of the UN system and UN-related issues, expanding upon the knowledge acquired through coursework.
The Evolution of the UNSPWG
UNSP Director and Professor Elisabeth Lindenmayer desired for the UN Studies Program to have a commensurate student group carry out ongoing projects that would aid the program in an academic, professional, and practical manner.
In January 2008, the working group held its first elections, and created an executive board that worked to strengthen the relationship between SIPA and the UN.
Two Co-Presidents, one Events Coordinator, one UN System & Alumni Outreach Chair, one Treasurer, and one Communications Chair were tasked with ensuring that the UNSP was supported. By allocating a dynamic group of members that would work as a machine to develop projects, events, and fundraisers, the mission was accomplished.
