II Annual LASA Academic Conference
October 12, 2007
Presented by the Latin American Student Association
(LASA)
School of International and Public Affairs
Columbia University
Please join us for the II Annual LASA Academic Conference, which
will take place on Friday October 12th, 2007.
The purpose of the conference is to highlight where Latin America
stands today in matters of economics, politics, society and culture. It is
our intention to offer a forum for the exchange of knowledge related to one
of the world’s richest and most vibrant regions as it confronts a rapidly
evolving global landscape. Over 500 people are expected to be in attendance
from over 50 countries, who will have the opportunity to learn from speakers
in academia, business, and civil society in different panels covering diverse
pivotal aspects of Latin America.
We believe that our contributions will enrich our graduate experience at SIPA
through enhancing the diversity of perspectives and content represented. As
students of international affairs and development, LASA members value the opportunity
to learn from and with our colleagues. We further believe that our involvement
will help place Latin American issues in the spotlight at a time when they
are sorely needed. We promise that this event will be one that you will not
easily forget, and hopefully offer a touchstone for future LASA boards to uphold,
along our erstwhile social and cultural activities.
