What's JASSA (Japan Study Student Association)?
JASSA is a Japan-focused, graduate student-run lecture/discussion group at SIPA, affiliated with Columbia University's East Asian Institute.
JASSA plans on and off campus lectures inviting people who are taking active roles in the fields of Japanese issues, including politicians, governmental officials, journalists and businesspersons.
In addition, JASSA organizes events related to Japanese affairs and cultures, gathering students and people concerned from inside and outside of Columbia University.
Moreover, during the spring break, JASSA has organized one-week Japan Trip, visiting several cities in Japan and discussing with policy makers, business persons, and cultural specialists.

JASSAはコロンビア大学国際・公共政策大学院(SIPA)に所属する日本関連の学生団体です。学内での講演会、交流会、日本語講習会や文化紹介イベント、日本訪問研修旅行の開催等によって、コロンビア大学生をはじめとする世界各国の人々に、日本をより深く理解してもらうこと目的に活動しています。これまで、日本の国会議員、政府関係者、ジャーナリスト、研究者、芸術家やアメリカをはじめとする海外の日本研究者など、日本に馴染みのある様々な分野の専門家をお招きした交流会等をコロンビア大学で開催してまいりました。また、春休みにはコロンビア大学生を引率し日本で政策責任者、企業、文化施設を訪問するJapan Tripを開催して参りました。今後も皆様のご期待に添える様な企画を開催する予定です。イベント、講演会(お招きするゲスト等)へのご提案やご質問等ございましたら、jassa.columbia@gmail.comまでお気軽にお知らせ下さい。
JASSA Mailing List and JASSA Facebook Group
JASSA informs you of Japan-related events information through the mailing list and the Facebook group. While the mailing list is one-way information sharing from JASSA board to JASSA members, the Facebook group is more casual and interactive spaces for participants to exchange information with others.

- How to Subscribe
JASSA uses google groups as its mailing list tool. Search "JASSA" in the google groups or just go to JASSA google groups page. Click "Join this group" in the right side column of JASSA google groups. Then, you will get an e-mail confirming your subscription. Save that email!
- How to Unsubscribe
Go to the JASSA google groups page, click "edit my membership" in the right column. A bottun for unsubscribe will appear. Click that bottun.
JASSA Facebook Group
- How to Subscribe
Go to JASSA Facebook group page. Click "Join this group" in the right side of the page. As soon as the manager accepts your request, you will be able to post JASSA Facebook Group.
- How to Unsubscribe
Go to JASSA Facebook group page. In the right side, you can see the bottun for settings. Click it and you will see the "leave Group" option. Click it.
