Political Stabilization: The Role of the U.S. Department of State, USAID, and the U.S. Military in Good Governance and Development
November 03, 2011 from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm, The Arnold A. Saltzman Institute and the SIPA Veterans Association welcome Council on Foreign Relations Fellows, Douglas Climan from the U.S Department of State, Col. Willard Buhl from the U.S Marine Corps and Stacia George from USAID to discuss the successes, failures, and realities of civilian-military coordination in shaping political outcomes in unstable environments through stabilization initiatives. The event will be held at Columbia University Morningside Campus, International Affairs Building, Room 1501.
Veterans Day
November 11, 2011, The student veterans of Columbia University will have a flag raising ceremony on campus in honor of Veterans Day. Also, Columbia Student Veterans will be marching in the New York City Veterans Day Parade.
Sea of Goodwill Roundtable
Postponed - TBD, Col Sutherland and Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) around New York City will participate in a round table discussion on campus. Colonel Sutherland is currently serving as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with principle focus on Warrior and Family Support. Col Sutherland, VSO' s and students will have an opportunity to discuss ways the Sea of Goodwill assists our veterans in achieving the capacity for greatness that exists in them, their families, and the families of our fallen as they transition into civilian society.
