School of International and Public Affairs Student Association (SIPASA)

While the faculty and deans will take the lead in your academic enrichment, SIPASA’s role is to offer a more student-focused experience. SIPASA is your voice, your link to students, faculty, staff and the wider Columbia University, your party starter, and more. We pride ourselves on our contribution to enriching your student experience at SIPA. While being an effective liaison between the students, faculty, staff, and Columbia University, SIPASA also offers social activities for you to meet and interact with your fellow classmates; regular communication for you to voice your opinion on a range of topics (from curriculum and course offerings to career services and internships); opportunities to interact and network with other graduate schools; and many others. SIPASA’s events and initiatives over the coming two years will help you expand your horizons and make friends and build a network that will stay with you long after graduation.
SIPASA would also like to invite you to an open house in September to introduce ourselves to your class, to answer any questions you might have about the Board and how to get involved, and to start providing information about the elections in November for your class to fill the next SIPASA Board. Look for the open house invitation in early September, as well as more information from SIPASA this summer. We’ll also be meeting all of you throughout orientation.
