Applications are invited for the Lenfest - Earth Institute Professor of Natural Resource Economics at Columbia University.  The position is expected to be a joint appointment between the Earth Institute and the School of International and Public Affairs.

The Earth Institute is Columbia University’s response to the challenge of global sustainable development. It brings together scholars and researchers from throughout the University to address the environmental and socioeconomic issues that control future development and its sustainability by strengthening existing and initiating new efforts in Earth Sciences, Earth Engineering, Ecology, Public Health, and Social and Political Sciences.  The School of International and Public Affairs brings together an interdisciplinary faculty to conduct research in policy-related fields and train students at the masters and doctoral level for careers in global public policy. 

The Lenfest - Earth Institute Professor of Natural Resource Economics is expected to be a leader in the field of environmental economics who will help build a vibrant, multidisciplinary and integrative program of research and education in his/her field and to strengthen the Earth Institute's cross-cutting work. The Earth Institute offers several opportunities for synergistic activities through collaborative research with entities such as the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development, the Columbia Climate Center, the Center for Environmental Research and Conservation, the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, and the Program in Water Resources within the Earth Engineering Center.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have a record of distinguished scholarly publication appropriate for appointment with tenure.In addition to providing educational and research leadership, the incumbent will be expected to teach in the highly innovative Sustainable Development doctoral program.
