SIPA’s Alumni Day to Also Celebrate
PEPM’s 20th Anniversary

Alumni Day on April 28, 2012 will have an extra special celebration, as the Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM) celebrates its 20th anniversary. As part of the program, two of the panel discussions will focus on topics of interest to PEPM alumni. Also that evening, a special dinner celebration is planned, with former PEPM director Dani Rodrik as the dinner speaker.

In addition, on Thursday, April 26th, SIPA will recognize three individuals at the annual Global Leadership Awards Dinner: Lisa Anderson, former dean of SIPA and current president of the American University in Cairo; Howard Graham Buffett, philanthropist and founder of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation; and Peter G. “Pete” Peterson, chairman emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, founder and chairman, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, co-founder and chairman emeritus, the Blackstone Group.

Look for more details about these events, 2012 Alumni Day, as well as soon-to-be-announced class reunions around Alumni Day.

ALUMNI COUNCIL NEWS

Roger Baumann IF '84, MIA '85

December 2, 2011 Council Meeting

On December 2nd, the SIPA Alumni Council held the first-ever meeting of its entire board. Consisting of 55 members, including a 15-member executive committee, the Council works with SIPA on developing ways to bring alumni together with each other and with students.

The four standing committees of the Council are working on plans to expand the programs offered to alumni. As part of Alumni Day, the Events Committee, chaired by Sham Mustafa (MPA '06), is looking to develop reunions around the weekend as well as other events that bring alumni together.

The Career and Mentoring Committee, chaired by Aaron Singer (MPA '04), is building on its programs mentoring both alumni and students, and will hold a reception in March in New York for alumni either already involved or interested in becoming involved.

Anuj Shah (MIA '05), who heads the Communications and Outreach Committee, will work with his committee in two main areas: developing the first-ever survey of SIPA alumni; and establishing a group of admissions ambassadors to help the school identify and attract the best possible applicants.

Finally, the Governance and Nominating Committee, headed by Allison Cooke Kellogg (IF '72, MIA '73), will continue to refine the Council’s procedures and look to fill any open positions.

The Alumni Council is chaired by Roger Baumann (IF '84, MIA '85). If you have any questions about the Council, please contact Scott Pesner, SIPA’s Director of Alumni Affairs.
