Guéhenno Discusses Challenges of
Syria Crisis
Jean-Marie Guéhenno knew he faced a challenge when Kofi Annan asked him to be the deputy joint special envoy of the UN and the Arab League for Syria. “But you don’t pick and choose,” said the director of the Center for International Conflict Resolution, who is also the Arnold A. Saltzman Professor of Professional Practice at SIPA. “Even if you know the odds are very low, you have got to try.”

Czech Foundation Recognizes Svejnar
For Lifelong Achievement
Economist Jan Svejnar has been honored for his long record of distinguished work with a 2012 Neuron Prize from the Prague-based Nadacní Fond Karla Janecka (NFKJ), or Karel Janecek Endowment for Research and Science. Svejnar is the James T. Shotwell Professor of Global Political Economy and director of SIPA's Center on Global Economic Governance (CGEG).

SIPA Mentoring Program Receives Huge Response
Nearly 600 SIPA alumni and current students signed up to be potential mentors or mentees for the SIPA Alumni Council's Mentoring Program in November, tripling the number of registrants from the previous phase earlier this year. Mentoring applicants will be notified through February if they've been matched.
Alumni from the DC area who are matched will have the opportunity to spend time with their mentees as part of the Alumni/Student Networking Reception at the 37th Washington, D.C. Conference.on January 16. To attend the conference, click the registration link below.
