She was awarded a SIPA fellowship for the 2007-2008 academic year and is working as a program assistant for the course, Microeconomics and Policy Analysis. What do you like most about SIPA?

“I think the diversity of SIPA students attracts me most. Working with people from different backgrounds really benefits me a lot. I am especially interested in East Asia politics and culture, and starting last semester, a Japanese student and Korean student joined me in the formation a discussion group.

We meet weekly and discuss a specific topic regarding politics, culture, and social issues in different countries. Through this group, I broadened my horizons regarding international affairs in various countries and I really treasure the friendships I have developed.”

Have you taken any classes at other Columbia schools?

“I chose to take some classes from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences related to economics and policy issues. SIPA offers the chance to take classes at other Columbia schools and also opportunities to complete a dual-degree with other world-famous universities.”

Is there any interesting presentation or meeting that you attended recently?

“I have attended many interesting presentations while at SIPA and one of the most unforgettable experiences was the presentation given by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Only at Columbia could we benefit from such an open atmosphere to hear true voices that are different from the mainstream media.”
